Once the domain is registered
All Belgian domain names registered with us are stored on our international server. Domains registered with us are automatically provided with their own under-construction page - this notifies potential registrants that the name has been acquired and is now registered. The under-construction page is offered free of charge and may be used indefinitely.
It is possible for Web and/or Mail forwarding to be provided for Belgian domains.
Domain transfer/release fees are charged are by a majority of registrars, but BB Online make no charge to transfer a domain to another Belgian domain name registrar.

.be is the Internet top level country code domain name (ccTLD) for Belgium in northwestern Europe. It is the founding member of the European Union and the international organisation of NATO and its population has been counted to be roughly 10,419,000 people, with a GPD of $316.2 billion. It's main languages are Dutch, French and German. The registration for the .be domain name is made directly at a second-level and is contracted on a first-come-first-serve basis, and there are no restrictions placed on who can register.
The .be domain name is operated and sponsored by DNS Belgium and has done so since 2000 and have managed to receive over 470,000 registrations since 2005. The domain name was introduced in 1988 and before the delegation to DNS Belgium .be was operated by Pierre Verbaeten of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. DNS Belgium are there to keep all technical aspects relating to the registration in check, to make agreements with registration agents and coordinate domain registration at a national.

It was announced in November 2005 that the initial registration of domains would be free until the beginning of 2006, though with some limits on the number any individual was allowed to register. This was remarkably popular, with some 17,000 registrations coming in on the first day of the promotion.
Domain names are registered directly at second level. Some of Belgian's main academic institutions, such as the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the UniversitÈ¨ Libre de Bruxelles, use third-level names under ac.be, but others have abandoned its use (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Universiteit Gent and UniversitÈ¨ Catholique de Louvain.
